Talking Tins

We are so lucky because the PTA bought us some talking tins. Talking tins are things where you can record yourself talking and then listen back to it. We have been using them to practise reading fluently. Together we decided what reading fluently sounds like.
Isaiah listening to his fluent reading
Livy self assessing her reading
When you are reading at home think about reading fluently and what that sounds like.

Nick's clever thinking of putting
the talking tin on the pole
Ella thinking carefully about
reading fluently
"I remembered to stop at the
fullstops and just a little stop
at the comma"said Te Au

A huge thank you to the PTA for our talking tins. We love using them and they are going to help us to improve our reading.

Favourite Books

Room 5 chose their favourite books from the library to share with Room 5. They made a cover and on the back wrote a blurb about the book. The blurb told us who was in the story, what happened...but not the endning and why someone should read the book. Here are some of our favourite books. To see the rest come in to Room 5 and you will get some great book recommendations. Caitlyn Ella Declan Beau Nick

Assembly Item

A few photos from our assembly item. I was very proud of all the Kidd-li-winks. You were fantastic little performers and put on a great show for the rest of the school. You worked hard to learn your parts and best of all you had fun and took a risk with your learning. So wonderful to see you all being the 'best you can be'.

Rotation

We are learning about rotation and fractions. We made patterns by rotating shapes different fractions.
Look at some of our patterns.
The shapes and the colours have to stay the same when you rotate.

We used our woodcuts to create prints. It was fun, sticky and hard work.

Bella made a Pic Collage about our printing.

Come to the school Art Exhibition 'Arts around the Globe' to see all our prints. It begins on Saturday 21 September and runs through to Wednesday 25 September. All classes will have work exhibited and a performance on the screens around the hall.

Woodcuts

We created woodcuts. It was tricky using the woodcut knives for the first time ever. We had to show a lot of determination and never give up. We cut out our designs with the woodcut knives. It took a long time and a lot of concentration. There were also a couple of cut fingers. We are going to use our woodcuts to create prints.
Henrietta created a Pic Collage to show different parts of our woodcutting experience.

Thank you so much to all the parents that helped us create our woodcuts. We really really appreciate all your help.

And then something "magical happened"
We did crayon rubbings and our designs appeared.
It was super exciting!
